This course deals with writing expository and argumentative essays. In the first half semester, the course starts with how to write an essay which evaluates and explains a certain issue or topic. The students will exercise how to maintain an objective, neutral tone throughout their essays. When writing an exposition, they should refrain from pointing out their personal ideas and beliefs. In the second half semester, the students will learn how to convince their audience with valid arguments. They will exercise how to use a combination of facts and their personal ideas to argue. The students have to do research and gather evidence to prove as well as to defend their point.
